This is a wakizashi by 4th generation Masayoshi of Satsuma province, the eldest son of Hoki no Kami Masayuki (3rd generation Masayoshi). Dated Tenpo 7 (1836), it features a vibrant jigane with utsuri and a deeply nioideki hamon with abundant nie, sunagashi, and kinsuji. The blade is certified as Tokubetsu Hozon by the NBTHK.
