This is a tanto made by Miyairi Shohei in Showa 38 (1963). Miyairi Shohei was born in Nagano Prefecture and became a Living National Treasure at the age of 49. The blade has a well-forged steel and a notare hamon with thick nioi, reminiscent of the Soshu tradition.
