Description

This is an old Japanese wakizashi blade, likely from the late Muromachi or early Edo period, that has been remounted in a Japanese military koshirae from the Shōwa era (Second World War). It features an elegant sugata with pronounced curvature and two mekugi-ana, consistent with an antique blade adapted for military use. The koshirae is a typical Shōwa-period guntō configuration with a brown/khaki tsuka-ito, white samegawa, floral menuki, and a kashira with a sarute ring, complemented by a stitched leather field/combat cover for the saya.
