This is an unsigned tsuba featuring a yugao (moonflower) motif, likely from the mid to late Edo period. Made of iron, it depicts yugao flowers and fruits around a lattice window, reminiscent of the 'Yugao' chapter from The Tale of Genji. The thick iron tsuba has a square shape with silver and shakudo rope-patterned fukurin (rim).

We could not find an authenticity certificate on the seller’s listing. Japanese swords and fittings are normally papered by the NBTHK (or the NTHK). Without one, the attribution is the seller’s own assessment and has not been independently verified — treat it with caution and ask the dealer about certification before buying.
