The Kanō Natsuo School

The last great master of the sword-fitting art — and, many would say, the greatest. Kanō Natsuo worked from bakumatsu Kyoto into the Meiji era, carrying kinkō past the abolition of the sword itself: professor at the new art academy, engraver of the imperial mint’s first coinage, and maker of fittings whose painting-like delicacy collectors place at the summit of the craft. One name; ten Tokubetsu Jūyō.
